About a week ago, the Su family’s Jade Group had shipped the goods and received the final payment.
It was one of their pricier deals recently.
But who could’ve guessed that a week later, that family would come back?
They drove hundreds of miles from East China, cursing and insisting that the jade tripod Su Hong sold them was fake!
Since the family’s troubles years ago, Su Hong had never dared sell fakes. He was an honest businessman through and through.
Besides, for this deal, Su Hong only covered the cost, with raw materials sourced and sold in-house. He’d made a tidy profit, so there was no need to sell fakes.
No matter how Su Hong explained, the other side refused to believe him.
Su Hong was terrified of the matter escalating. If it blew up and leaked, whether he’d lied about fakes or not, he’d be the loser. Decades of building a sterling reputation would be ruined!

Meanwhile, at the Su family estate, things were getting lively.
“Su Hong! You’re supposed to be Beijing’s famous jade king, and you dare sell me fakes?”
“I reckon that jade king title of yours was earned peddling counterfeits!”
A man spoke arrogantly, and another was even more brazen.
“Big brother, stop wasting words! We’ve questioned him for ages, and he still won’t admit it. He won’t cry until he sees the coffin!”
“You wait, I’ll call every media outlet in Beijing to gather here. I refuse to believe we can’t expose this with money!”
Su Hong, already distressed and stuck in the middle, panicked at this and quickly raised his hands to stop them.
“No, no, no… Mr. Liu, that’s not how it works! I’ve answered all your questions. It’s not fake! I’ve shown you so much evidence, why won’t you believe me?”
Seeing Su Hong’s agitation, Mr. Liu smirked, thinking he’d hit the old man’s sore spot.
It wasn’t that he didn’t believe Su Hong’s evidence, he simply refused to, deep down!
If they believed him, how could they pull off their scam?
So, Mr. Liu shoved Su Hong aside.

He called it self-defence, but it was clearly an excuse to start a fight, their usual tactic.
First, they’d baselessly slander someone, refusing to believe any explanation.

In the short term, with some shady media after dirty money, it was easy to twist the truth and extort a massive payout.
Even if the truth came out later, this lot would be long gone, impossible to track.
Things went as this man expected. After Mr. Liu’s words, the Su family’s guards started getting riled up.
This was their turf, and these blokes barging in, shouting their heads off, had pushed them to the limit.
