At the critical moment, a small pebble flew through the air, striking the blade in Master Gong’s hand.
Master Gong felt his hand go numb from the impact, and the knife flew out of his grip, snapping into two pieces mid-air.
“Who’s that? How dare you ruin my plans! Tired of living, are you?”
Master Gong was furious at being interrupted, but a response soon came from behind him.
“It’s me. Since Ma Sanlaizi has already kowtowed and begged for mercy, if you still won’t let him go, the fault lies with you!”
Xu Fei strolled into the courtyard with a casual swagger, tossing a few pebbles up and down in his hand, his expression relaxed as if he were in his own backyard.
Upon seeing Xu Fei, Master Gong instantly recognised him. Wasn’t this the lad from Fengtian Tower?
“You little brat! The Gong residence is heavily guarded, impregnable as a fortress. How the hell did you get in? Guards! Where are the guards?”
“Save your breath. I’ve been here for a while and took some time to deal with all the guards outside. If you don’t believe me, go have a look!” Xu Fei replied.
Though Master Gong’s face was full of bravado, sweat poured down his forehead.
No one knew better than him how tightly secured the Gong residence was.
Normally, the slightest disturbance would bring dozens of hidden guards swarming out.
But now, even after Master Gong had nearly shouted himself hoarse, there wasn’t a peep from the surroundings.
He recalled Xu Fei’s earlier move, how a single pebble had knocked the knife from his hand and broken it in two.
Someone with such exceptional skill could very well have silently taken out all the guards he’d stationed.
“You… who the hell are you?”
By now, Master Gong was so terrified he’d collapsed onto the ground, crawling backwards with hands and feet until he was huddled in a corner.
This put some distance between him and Xu Fei, making him feel safer, though it was merely wishful thinking.
Xu Fei couldn’t help but smirk at the sight. His goal this time was Ma Sanlaizi, and taking that strange treasure chest along the way wouldn’t hurt.
He had no interest in Master Gong himself.
Still, Xu Fei knew that if Master Gong came to his senses and rallied the entire Gong family’s guard force against him, it would delay him and cause significant trouble.
So, Xu Fei decided to play the part to the end. He picked up the broken half of the blade from the ground and charged menacingly towards Master Gong.
“No… don’t kill me… I’ll give you as much money as you want…”
Before he could finish, Xu Fei was already upon him. With a swift kick, he knocked Master Gong out cold.
Xu Fei then tossed the blade aside and glanced at Ma Sanlaizi.
“What are you standing there for? Grab the chest and come with me!”
Ma Sanlaizi, still reeling from the shock, responded instinctively, “Come with you? You’re not here to take revenge on me?”
