Xu Fei felt astonished, while Kawashima Ichio beside him seemed as though the sky was collapsing.
“How could this be? How did it come to this! Lord Orochi, what’s wrong with you!”
Kawashima Ichio wailed as he crawled forward on his knees, finally reaching the side of the Yamata no Orochi.
But just as he got close, before he could even touch it, merely making the motion, a massive shadow flashed before him. Then, Kawashima Ichio felt his body flung far away like a tattered sack.
Xu Fei focused his gaze and saw that it was none other than the Orochi’s thick, powerful tail that had moved.
Thud! Kawashima Ichio, hurled by the Orochi’s tail, crashed heavily to the ground, feeling as if his organs had been shattered.
Coughing up several mouthfuls of blood, mixed with fragments of damaged innards, he cried out, “Why! Why is this happening! Lord Orochi, have you mistaken someone? I’m the devout follower who served you in this underground temple for months, that guy is just a heretic!”
No sooner had Kawashima Ichio badmouthed Xu Fei than, before Xu Fei could issue a command or respond, the Orochi’s tail rose high again.
This terrified Kawashima Ichio, who frantically waved his hands to beg for mercy. Having just experienced that horrifying attack, he wouldn’t dare oppose the Orochi even with a hundred times more courage.
“Want to know why? Fine, I’ll give you the answer!”
Xu Fei pointed at the blood-red moon in the sky, looking at Kawashima Ichio as he continued, “The sun represents yang, and the moon represents yin. The moon alone isn’t enough here, there must be a balance of yin and yang!”
With that, Xu Fei leapt into the air, and the yang power within him began to surge forth.
The sheer volume of it left Kawashima Ichio, watching from below, utterly shocked.
He, who had inherited the entire underground temple’s legacy, couldn’t fathom why it seemed Xu Fei’s reserves surpassed his own inheritance.
As the immense yang power radiated, Xu Fei’s body glowed with a translucent, dazzling golden light, warmly nourishing the temple’s ground.
Bathed in this energy, akin to sunlight, the plants in the underground temple began to flourish vibrantly.
Within seconds, the entire underground temple transformed into a sea of flowers and grass.
“You, who can only manipulate yin power, dare to call yourself the master of this temple?”
“Then someone like me, who can control both yin and yang, could practically be your ancestor, couldn’t I?”
Hearing Xu Fei’s words, Kawashima Ichio below was naturally unconvinced.
“You… you bastard, stop insulting me with your sly words! If you’ve got the guts, let’s fight one-on-one!”
“Fine! One-on-one it is, but let’s agree beforehand, neither of us can use the temple’s power!”
Xu Fei wasn’t about to let this guy betray his word mid-battle and activate some strange formation, so he proactively set the terms.
At this point, Kawashima Ichio, consumed by repeated failures and mistakes, was overwhelmed by vengeful flames, his eyes bloodshot as he declared, “Fine! I’ll bet, I’ll bet my life!”
Next, Kawashima Ichio clasped his hands, condensing a massive black orb of light, then swallowed it whole.
“Damn it! You can’t eat that thing like that!”
By the time Xu Fei reacted and tried to stop him, it was too late. Kawashima Ichio’s body began to undergo drastic changes.
He became neither human nor ghost, his hair dishevelled, his form growing enormous, like some giant-bodied monster from mythical tales.
“Xu Fei! I’ll have your life!”
