“Are you alright? That guy’s been driven off by me!”
Hua Ling managed to force a faint smile, gently shaking her head.
“I, I’m fine, I just need to use the bathroom.”
Xu Fei had no reason to doubt her and let Hua Ling go into the nearby bathroom.
What Xu Fei didn’t know was that once inside, Hua Ling quickly turned on the tap, frantically washing her face.
At that moment, Hua Ling felt as though her entire body was burning, and she had barely held it together outside.
But now, washing her face didn’t seem to ease her condition.
With no other choice, Hua Ling turned on the shower, standing under the cold water, soaking herself completely.
As time passed, the strange burning sensation in her body didn’t subside, instead, faint wisps of steam began rising from her.
The heat grew more intense, and Hua Ling couldn’t help but want to strip off her clothes.
Outside, Xu Fei checked the time, it had been at least twenty minutes, nearly half an hour, since Hua Ling went in.
Feeling something was off, Xu Fei couldn’t hold back any longer and walked to the bathroom door, knocking on the glass.
“Are you okay, Hua Ling? You’ve been in there for so long!”
Before he knew it, the glass door swung open with a whoosh, and a hand reached out, forcefully pulling Xu Fei inside.
“Hey! What’s wrong, Hua Ling, this water’s freezing!”
Once inside, Xu Fei saw Hua Ling, drenched from head to toe, and realised she had been secretly taking a cold shower.
Hua Ling, unable to speak, her face and skin flushed red-hot, seemed oblivious to everything.
Seeing this, Xu Fei immediately understood and activated his clairvoyant vision.
Sure enough, under his vision, he saw an abnormal liquid in Hua Ling’s body, clearly, she had been poisoned.
“Damn it! They must’ve forced her to drink some kind of potion before I arrived, I need to detoxify her now!”
Without hesitation, Xu Fei took out a silver needle, pricked it into Hua Ling’s body, and channelled his true energy to neutralise the poison.
After about ten minutes, Hua Ling’s head tilted, and she fainted.
Xu Fei wasn’t worried, as her vital signs appeared stable, with no major issues.
He figured that after being poisoned and then suddenly detoxified, her body couldn’t handle the rapid change and caused her to pass out.
Xu Fei believed a little rest would sort her out.
So, he carried Hua Ling and placed her on a nearby bed, to help her wake up sooner, he even infused some energy into her body.
After waiting for about half an hour, Hua Ling slowly came to.
“Benefactor, I didn’t expect to owe you again, without you, I might’ve…”
Upon waking, Hua Ling expressed her gratitude to Xu Fei, though she didn’t finish her sentence, both knew what she meant.
Xu Fei smiled and said.
“No worries, I’ve driven that guy away, you’re safe now, but I’m more concerned about what you’ll do next time, it seems this guy’s connection to you isn’t shallow, is it?”
Xu Fei didn’t know that Brother Hao was actually the biggest backer supporting Hua Ling.
After Hua Ling explained, Xu Fei finally understood the nature of their relationship.
