The group reached the door of Brother Hao’s office. Xu Fei noticed Hualing’s hesitation and immediately spoke up to reassure her.
Then, Xu Fei pushed open the door and led everyone inside.
“Well, well, isn’t this Sister Hua? Bringing quite a few helpers today, huh?”
Brother Hao’s tone was polite, but his face was full of ill intent.
Xu Fei, however, wasn’t one to be trifled with. He plopped down onto the sofa, casually crossing his legs and resting them on the marble coffee table.
“Cut the nonsense and get to the point. Don’t you know Sister Hua is busy? Not everyone’s like you, a small-time boss who’s never seen the world! Time’s precious!”
Hearing Xu Fei’s blatant mockery, Brother Hao nearly lost his temper on the spot.
But then he considered other factors, took a deep breath, and continued with a forced, insincere smile.
“No problem, let’s talk business. Here’s the deal: since you’ve failed to meet the company’s profit targets for three consecutive years, we’re unilaterally terminating your contract!”
“And because you didn’t meet those targets, you’re in breach of contract. Here are the relevant clauses for you to review!”
After Brother Hao spoke, his assistant promptly opened several folders and placed them in front of everyone, brimming with confidence.
When Hualing saw the unfamiliar clauses, she immediately protested.
“Hold on! I don’t recall any such terms when we signed the contract. Did you add these later?”
“Besides, even if there were additional terms, this is outrageous. Three years of generating at least 500 million in profit annually for the company? I’m afraid even you couldn’t manage that!”
After three or four years in the industry, Hualing was no longer the naive young girl she once was.
She could easily spot an overly simplistic scam.
Unfortunately, this time, Hualing hadn’t realised that Brother Hao held all the cards.
With both contracts in his possession, he didn’t need to resort to sneaky schemes.
It was a blatant, take-it-or-leave-it tactic, leaving her no choice but to comply!
“Hmph! Stop dreaming. The contract is crystal clear. Can’t you read?”
“And if you have any doubts, you can either refuse to sign this contract or produce the other copy for comparison. Do you have it?”
His words left Hualing speechless. Even though she’d suspected as much, facing it now made her feel helpless and powerless to fight back.
Xu Fei, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up, though he didn’t immediately play his trump card.
“You’d better take responsibility for your words. I can take this contract back to investigate, including whether there are newly added clauses. Old and new handwriting can be distinguished!”
Brother Hao seemed to have anticipated this, sneering as he replied.
“Fine, go ahead and investigate. But let me tell you, once I present this termination contract, it’s effective immediately. You’ve got twelve hours at most, so do whatever you want!”
After hearing this, Xu Fei pretended to be stumped, falling silent while subtly nudging Hualing beside him. Hualing, looking aggrieved, asked,
“So… if I’m considered in breach, how much do I need to pay? I’ll compensate whatever it is. That should be fine, right?”
