“Knock, knock, knock!”
“Come in!”
Lan Jitong didn’t even look up at the sound of the knock until Xu Fei walked up to his desk and tapped it.
Only then did Lan Jitong glance up, surprised to see Xu Fei, and immediately said with a beaming smile, “Oh, Mr. Xu, what brings you here? You should’ve given me a heads-up, I’ve got some top-notch Tieguanyin tea for you to try…”
Before Lan Jitong could finish his flurry of flattery, Xu Fei cut him off, “Enough! I’m not here for tea! Tell me, what’s this about the exchange students my daughter mentioned?”
At the mention of this, Lan Jitong’s face fell, and he began to explain honestly to Xu Fei.
It turned out that Lan Jitong, as the principal here, had an old classmate who was also a principal at a school in another city.
The two hadn’t been in touch for years, but upon reconnecting and learning they were both principals, they got the spontaneous idea to organise a student exchange.
Back in their school days, they were like-minded friends, both upholding integrity and honesty, a character they maintained over the years.
Lan Jitong assumed his old friend would be the same, and so the students he trained should be decent too.
But when this batch of exchange students arrived, Lan Jitong realised he’d been naive.
Not only were these students riddled with bad behaviour, but they were also starting to skew the entire ethos of Royal School.
At a critical moment, Lan Jitong revoked their boarding privileges, which somewhat mitigated the impact.
In truth, Lan Jitong was deeply troubled by how things had turned out. After digging through other channels, he learned that, although his old friend was a principal like him, age had taken its toll, and he was getting a bit senile.
His principal title was now merely honorary, with no real authority, far from Lan Jitong’s position!
Lan Jitong couldn’t help but lament to Xu Fei, “I’ve really got nowhere to vent about this, Mr. Xu!”
Xu Fei nodded after listening. He wasn’t some ruthless tyrant and wouldn’t be unreasonable.
Before coming to get the details, Xu Fei had worried that Lan Jitong might have been corrupted by money and was colluding. Now, it seemed the situation was salvageable.
“Then tell me, what sort of trouble have these delinquent exchange students been causing lately?”
After Xu Fei spoke, Lan Jitong quickly produced a detailed report on the exchange students, listing dozens of offences.
Among them, Xu Fei spotted the most serious one: these students, flaunting their wealth and living in school-district housing, had openly mocked classmates who couldn’t afford it.
The consequences were severe, even driving one timid student to the brink of jumping off a building.
Xu Fei decided this matter needed serious action!
He patted his chest and said, “Leave this to me, I’ll handle it!”
With that, Xu Fei immediately called Wang Qiang.
After learning about the situation, Wang Qiang was furious and proposed a solution.
