Even though Kang Kang had only recently gained consciousness and hadn’t been learning to act human for long, he couldn’t help but sigh.
Afterwards, Kang Kang smoothly left the mall and returned to his hideout.
It was a mysterious area of abandoned buildings. A wealthy developer had once turned it into a luxurious villa district.
But when the funding chain collapsed, the project was left unfinished, resulting in a vast expanse of derelict structures.
Although the lack of water and electricity made it nearly impossible for ordinary people to live there, it was no issue for Kang Kang, a puppet.
Plus, some of the houses had already been renovated, so Kang Kang found his living conditions quite decent.
But today, he had no time to relax. He needed to report all the intelligence he’d gathered.
As soon as he returned, Kang Kang went to the attic on the top floor, sat cross-legged, and began channelling his true qi.
In an instant, the threads from his fingers shot out like a spider’s web, eventually weaving into a large net in front of him.
Once the net formed, a fleeting image appeared on it.
The image showed the seductive woman from before, the one who had created Kang Kang.
“Kang Kang, my dear child, why are you contacting me today? Have you discovered something new?”
Upon seeing the seductive woman, Kang Kang’s gaze grew unfocused.
He knelt respectfully and said in a deep voice, “Mother, I’ve seen the killer of Kawashima Chika.”
The woman immediately responded, “What? You met that person? Why didn’t you act? I don’t see his head in your hands!”
Clearly, she believed Kang Kang, whom she had sent, should have found the task manageable.
But Kang Kang’s next words shocked her.
“Mother, I… I felt that man’s strength was unfathomable, as if he could see right through me. I was no match for him!”
Haltingly, Kang Kang recounted everything that had happened in the mall restaurant to the woman.
After hearing it all, her expression and demeanour turned deadly serious.
“He could so easily remove the control mark you left? This man’s strength must be truly unfathomable!”
“What should I do next, Mother?”
Kang Kang asked earnestly. The woman paused for a moment before replying, “For now, retreat. Finding the killer was already enough to complete the mission.”
“Hey, Kang Kang? My child? Speak to me!”
For some reason, the connection through true qi had been cut off, and though the woman was anxious, she was helpless.
What she didn’t know was that Kang Kang had deliberately severed the communication.
Because just moments ago, he had sensed something: in this villa district, where no one ever came, several powerful auras had suddenly appeared!
