“Looks like no matter which country, rich people all have the same rotten attitude!”
After venting inwardly, Xu Fei took on the role of driver again, steering the red Ferrari back to the apartment complex.
“Wow, you live here?” Kawashima Miki seemed brimming with curiosity about the place. Xu Fei gave a slight smile and said, “Of course, I can’t compare to you. My place is a lot smaller, so don’t judge!”
Kawashima Miki, far from judging, clung even tighter to Xu Fei’s arm.
This made Xu Fei keenly aware of her impressive figure, stirring a flicker of temptation in him.
But a serious problem soon loomed, leaving him no room for stray thoughts.
Xu Fei had brought Kawashima Miki to the entrance of his apartment building.
In just a few minutes, they’d be at his door via the lift.
He hadn’t warned Bai Feng about bringing Kawashima Miki back, and Xu Fei dreaded opening the door only to spark some conflict that could blow his cover and ruin everything.
But here they were, and Kawashima Miki, sharp as she was, stuck close to him, leaving no chance to send a heads-up.
“No choice now. I can only hope Bai Feng plays it smart at the critical moment and treat a dead horse as a live one!”
In the end, Xu Fei braced himself, led Kawashima Miki to the apartment door, and unlocked it with his key.
“Brother Fei, you’re finally back…”
Bai Feng, hearing the door, knew it was Xu Fei.
But as she approached the entrance with a smile, she saw it wasn’t just Xu Fei—another woman was there, arm linked with his, looking very close.
“Huh? Why’s there another girl in your place?” Kawashima Miki asked, feigning ignorance. Xu Fei, rapidly blinking at Bai Feng, quickly spoke up.
“She’s my cousin, Bai Feng. This time, besides meeting you all, I’ve got another task: ensuring my student cousin’s safety. Right, cousin?”
Thankfully, Bai Feng was quick-witted and caught Xu Fei’s winking cue. She chimed in, “Exactly, exactly! Bro, you were out so long because you went to find me a sister-in-law! Come on, come in!”
Bai Feng ushered Kawashima Miki and Xu Fei inside, warmly pouring a glass of water and setting out a spread of fruits to entertain Kawashima Miki.
The whole scene felt normal, with no hint of anything that might give them away.
“Can I take a look around?” Kawashima Miki asked.
On the surface, she seemed harmless, but seeing Bai Feng’s striking beauty sparked a strong sense of unease in her.
So, Kawashima Miki planned to use the “tour” as a chance to snoop, wanting to confirm if Bai Feng was truly Xu Fei’s cousin.
Xu Fei, of course, had anticipated this. Luckily, the apartment he’d rented was a two-bedroom, one-living-room unit.
With nothing to hide, he confidently showed Kawashima Miki around the entire place.
“I told you the place is small. Now you see, right?” he said.
Kawashima Miki smiled and sat on the sofa, feeling somewhat relieved. But to say she was completely at ease would be impossible.
