Talented Medical Son-in-law Chapter 1997

Not for any other reason, just because Xu Fei felt Bai Feng was being too bold, daring to joke about his own safety.

After making the joke, Bai Feng noticed Xu Fei’s face was still very tense and immediately realised he might have gone too far, quickly explaining and apologising.

“Sorry, Fei-ge, I didn’t mean it, I was just…”

At this moment, Kawashima Miki saw that Xu Fei still seemed angry and hurriedly explained.

“Well… you can’t really blame Bai Feng. It was actually me who wanted to see you but was too shy to call you. If you want to blame someone, blame me!”

Seeing these two standing up for each other at such a critical moment, their deep friendship shining through as they took responsibility, Xu Fei shook his head helplessly and said solemnly.

“Anyway, no matter what, this better not happen again. Neither of you can ever joke about your safety in the future!”

“Got it, Fei-ge. It’s about time for my class, so I’ll head off. You keep chatting with Kawashima Miki!”

The quirky Bai Feng, as he left, deliberately made a few encouraging gestures at Kawashima Miki before jogging away.

After Bai Feng left, Kawashima Miki, already shy, became even more embarrassed.

“How about we take a walk over there?”

Xu Fei noticed Kawashima Miki’s shyness, and since the playground was a bit crowded, he suggested they go somewhere quieter for a stroll.

It had to be said, the school had many scenic spots, especially a lush, verdant grove that looked vibrant and uplifting.

Xu Fei took the initiative to lead Kawashima Miki there, casually strolling while asking.

“What’s the reason for calling me out this time? Or did you just want to see me?”

Caught off guard by Xu Fei’s blunt question, Kawashima Miki blushed, quickly responding after collecting herself.

“Well… a bit of both. Anyway, now that I’ve seen you, take a look at this letter!”

With that, Kawashima Miki handed Xu Fei a letter from her father.

Xu Fei found the letter odd, wondering why, in this day and age, someone still used letters to communicate.

But when he opened the envelope and saw the signature at the end—Kawashima Yosuke—he immediately realised this letter was no ordinary one.

Sure enough, after reading the contents, Xu Fei muttered to himself.

“I just announced I’m Kawashima Ichifu’s disciple, and a few days later, I’m assigned such an important task. No matter how you look at it, this feels like a test!”

But Xu Fei wasn’t afraid of such things. He knew exactly what the Kawashima family was thinking.

They likely suspected that, given his skills, Xu Fei might be a spy sent by a rival family or hostile force.

Little did they know, Xu Fei harboured deep hatred for several families here, viewing them all as birds of a feather.

Thus, this so-called test was, for Xu Fei, merely a simple act of revenge.

“So? What does the letter say? Did my father tell you not to tell anyone?”

Kawashima Miki asked cautiously, receiving a nod from Xu Fei in response.

“I knew it!”

“It doesn’t matter. They’ve hidden so many things from me since I was a kid, one or two more won’t make a difference!”

Noticing Kawashima Miki’s frustration, Xu Fei comforted her, and they continued walking through the grove for a while.
