Hank’s soaring CA199 index made the dozen or so people in the group finally realise that Charlie wade did have an unseen ability, an ability that could sway a person’s life and death.
And Hank had been scared out of his wits at this point, he immediately received an injection of contrast medium and was then pushed into the hospital’s full scan CT room.
Huge machines were running frantically around him, and the huge vibration sensation, roar, and alarms doubled to amplify his inner trepidation.
In the past, this advanced medical equipment had been to him the power of technology, the power of money, and at the same time a reassurance.
But now, this equipment was causing him immense panic and fear.
Since this scan had to sweep the person from head to tail in a circle for two round trips, it lasted for a long time, which made it even more torturous for him.
Just when he felt like he was already on the verge of running out of breath, the machine finally stopped running and pushed him out of the huge circle.
The lead door isolating him from the radiation slowly opened, and the private doctor and several nurses rushed to move him to a mobile hospital bed and send him back to his ward.
On the way, Hank couldn’t help but ask, “How did the scan come out?”
The private doctor answered him, “Mr Hank you don’t have to rush first, the amount of data from the full scan is relatively huge, we have to wait for the computer to merge and analyse it, you first go back to the ward and wait for a while, I’ve already communicated with the attending Dr. Johnson, he’ll come over at the first time to tell him face to face if there’s any result, I won’t be in the middle of the message to delay the time.”
“Good ……” Hank gently nodded, his inner apprehension getting worse.
In the ward, Hank waited for half an hour on the bed in dishevelled and despair, the attending doctor pushed the door in and came directly to Hank’s bed, explaining with a gloomy expression, “Mr. Hank, we analysed the results of your plain scan, and found that the location of your pancreas, there is indeed an obvious abnormality under the contrast agent, and we summoned a number of specialists to come over to look at the film, and we unanimously agreed that it should be pancreatic cancer.”
Hank asked busily, “Can we confirm it through the film?”
Johnson nodded and said, “The film, coupled with the abnormalities of the CA199 index, basically confirms it, of course, the final confirmation still requires pathological results, and pathology is above all else.”
Hank asked again, “Then what should I do next? What is the current extent of my pancreatic cancer?”
Johnson said, “At the moment, we have tentatively concluded that it is still an early stage of pancreatic cancer, after all, the last examination was all normal, and so far, from the results of the plain scan, there are no lymphatic or distal metastases found.”
“That’s great!”Hank breathed a sigh of relief.
Early stage cancer, the cure rate is much higher, this is something he knows very well.
Johnson was somewhat less optimistic at this time, he said with a solemn expression, “Mr Hank, pancreatic cancer itself is a disease with a very poor prognosis, even if it’s early stage and we do a total pancreatectomy, the five-year survival rate is the worst of all cancers.”
Hank nervously asked, “Worst? Not even one of them?”
Johnson said, “All things considered, not counting, it’s the worst.”
Hank asked, “So will my kind of surgery work well?”
Johnson replied, “We’re not looking too optimistic at the moment, because it’s progressing really fast, three months and the indicators have doubled, which proves that the cancer cells are growing at a very fast rate and coming on strong, and the more cancers like this, the worse the prognosis is.”
Hank wiped his cold sweat and asked him, “So what’s your treatment plan for me now?”
