The physician operating the machine immediately pulled up Hank’s previous full-body scan data.
At the doctor’s request, he zoomed in on the pancreatic area.
Under the contrast agent, the imaging clearly showed a lesion occupying Hank’s pancreas, almost filling the entire head of the pancreas.
Johnson stared at the lesion and muttered, “Yes, it’s right here. So obvious, so large. How could it just disappear in today’s scan?”
He then hurriedly urged, “Quick, quick, switch to the latest scan.”
The physician promptly switched to the most recent set of images.
This set appeared completely clean, with no tissues showing any special reaction to the contrast agent.
Johnson was dumbfounded and asked the surrounding doctors, “Do you think this makes any sense?”
“Not at all,” Hank’s personal doctor shook his head. “To be blunt, even if it were ink stains, it wouldn’t wash off this clean in just a day or two.”
He then turned to the operating physician and asked, “Is this machine fake? Is it malfunctioning?”
The physician quickly replied, “Impossible. We conducted a thorough check after receiving the notification.”
“This is bizarre,” Johnson muttered as he zoomed in on today’s enhanced CT scan of the pancreas. “It doesn’t seem like a machine error. The pancreas looks healthy, damn it, completely fine.”
“It’s like seeing a ghost,” another doctor pondered, stroking his chin. “No treatment could possibly yield such perfect results. Pancreatic cancer doesn’t just go away like that.”
Johnson said, “Let’s wait for the CA199 results. If the CA199 levels have dropped, then there’s no doubt he’s cured.”
He then instructed, “First, have the nurses take Hank back to his room. I’ll go ask him later what kind of treatment he received in China.”
Hank was soon carefully escorted back to his room by the nurses.
His personal doctor came in first, asking in amazement, “Mr. Hank, what exactly did you do in China? Did you go to a hospital for treatment?”
Hank didn’t answer but instead asked, “How are my CT results?”
The personal doctor said, “The CT results are very strange. There’s no occupying lesion in your pancreas anymore.”
Hank was both shocked and delighted, exclaiming, “Indeed! Indeed! Damn it! I’m really cured!”
The personal doctor quickly added, “Mr. Hank, it’s still a bit hasty to say you’re cured. We need to wait for your CA199 results to confirm.”
Hank asked, “When will the results be out? Tell them to hurry up.”
The personal doctor replied, “This is already the fastest we can go. Blood tests and reactions take time. You can rest a bit; the results should be ready by dawn.”
At that moment, Johnson knocked and entered, smiling, “Mr. Hank, I must congratulate you. According to the CT scan, your pancreas has returned to health!”
Hank asked, “Don’t we still need to wait for the CA199 results?”
Johnson smiled, “We do need to wait, but I’m about 80% confident.”
