“Yes,” An Chengqi nodded. “If her character isn’t an act, then given her nature, she’d probably choose divorce. On one hand, there’s the disappointment of being deceived for so long; on the other, there’s the blood feud hidden behind Charlie’s lineage. If she truly loves him, I believe she’d confront him, then leave quietly with the secret, not even telling her parents.”
Sister Sun asked eagerly, “Madam, do you mean to tell Claire Wilson the full story, the cause and effect of everything?”
“Yes,” An Chengqi said seriously. “It’s time she knew. Besides, Charlie’s current situation doesn’t allow for too many distractions. If she can leave him, even just temporarily, it would be entirely beneficial and harmless to him.”
Sister Sun asked again, “Then how should we let Claire Wilson find out? It would need someone highly convincing to face her and make her believe it.”
She added, “Madam, what if I find an opportunity to meet her myself?”
“No, you’re not suitable,” An Chengqi rejected the idea firmly. “You’ve been missing from the world for years. If you went to her and told her this, she might not believe you.”
Sister Sun asked, “Then who do you think would be more appropriate?”
An Chengqi replied, “In the entire world, there’s only one suitable person, Steven Thompson.”
She continued, “If a member of the Wade or An family told Claire Wilson, it would certainly be convincing, but when Charlie finds out later, he’d surely resent them. Those people are his family; they shouldn’t be the ones to play the villain. Let Thompson take the burden instead. He’s served the Wade family for years, and information about him is all over the internet. If he speaks, Claire Wilson won’t doubt him.”
Sister Sun suddenly understood, nodding gently, “Madam, you’ve thought this through so thoroughly. Having Thompson handle it is indeed the most fitting choice.”
Then, she thought of something and quickly asked, “Madam, what if Claire Wilson learns all this but doesn’t intend to leave the young master?”
An Chengqi said calmly, “If she doesn’t leave, that’s fine too. Charlie is decisive and swift in handling anything else, but on this matter, he’s been dragging his feet, hesitating. He hasn’t dared tell Claire Wilson the truth, leaving their marriage full of unresolved issues. If she learns everything and chooses not to leave, she’ll likely stay by his side and live well with him. That would still be better than the current limbo they’re in.”
As a mother-in-law, An Chengqi had some reservations about Claire Wilson.
Putting everything else aside, the fact that the two had been married for years without consummating their relationship was something no mother-in-law could easily accept.
If Claire Wilson could leave Charlie wade, An Chengqi was willing to offer her a ten-billion-pound settlement to ensure she’d live comfortably for life. That way, Charlie wade could break free from this warped marriage and gain complete freedom.
If Claire Wilson refused to leave, then An Chengqi’s actions would put immense pressure on her to take the next step with Charlie wade, at the very least, to consummate their marriage.
So, in An Chengqi’s view, either outcome was far better than the present situation.
Since Charlie wade was unwilling to take that step himself, she, as his mother, would find a way to help him do it!
She immediately said to Sister Sun, “Tell Thompson to get ready and quietly return to the country.”
Sister Sun nodded, “Yes, Madam, I’ll contact Thompson right away.”
An Chengqi added, “Tell him not to take a plane back. Find a reliable sea route instead. Charlie has an AI model now, if he enters through official channels, it could easily be tracked by his AI.”
Sister Sun said, “Madam, a sea route might be slow. It could take until next month to reach the country.”
“That’s fine,” An Chengqi replied. “Speed isn’t the priority, leaving no trace is what matters most. If Charlie finds Thompson, it’s as good as finding me. He has plenty of ways to extract information about me from Thompson!”
