Charlie wade never imagined that two women would be so set on having him accompany them in a dance.
An eight-foot man like him, what sort of dance was he supposed to accompany?
But before he could refuse again, Stephanie hugged his arm, pleading earnestly, “Brother Charlie wade, please agree to it, won’t you? You really don’t need to dance, it’s just traditional martial arts and wire stunts, fully armoured too, not to mention no face reveal, even your hands will be in special assassin armour, no one will see so much as a finger.”
Tawana knew she didn’t have much right to act coy in front of Charlie wade, but she still said with a hopeful look, “Mr Wade, Miss Stephanie and I are singing together, if you could perform on stage with us, it’d probably be a beautiful memory we’d never forget in our lifetime.”
“That’s right, Brother Charlie wade!” Stephanie’s eyes were earnest as she whispered, “The thing I mentioned in the car, you’re not agreeing to that now, but surely you can’t refuse me for this performance too?”
Seeing her pitiful little expression, Charlie wade felt a pang of guilt.
Thinking about what Stephanie had said, that the performance would just involve him doing some masked martial arts moves, he said seriously, “You said it, Nannan, absolutely no face reveal, if my face does show, I’d be utterly humiliated.”
Stephanie knew this meant Charlie wade was softening, so she excitedly hugged him, saying happily, “Brilliant, Brother Charlie wade! Don’t worry, we absolutely won’t let your face show! Though some of the moves might need a bit of choreography, we’ll need your cooperation!”
Assured that his face wouldn’t be seen, Charlie wade already felt relieved.
Doing martial arts moves wasn’t a big deal for him. It was just that Tawana’s fame was so immense, if he showed his face at her concert, it might affect keeping his identity under wraps.
With no other choice, he nodded and said, “Fine, I’ll agree, just let me know the stage moves in advance, and I’ll do my best to cooperate.”
“Great!” Stephanie was over the moon, “I’ll need to go back and discuss the specific dance moves with my choreographer, but don’t worry, Brother Charlie wade, it won’t be too hard.”
Charlie wade gave a slight nod, “Alright, I’ll follow your arrangements then, I’ll go on stage for your last song, right?”
“Exactly!” Stephanie said, “This song is one I absolutely adore myself, its lyrics are about an ancient woman falling in love with a chivalrous assassin, the assassin sets off to kill a tyrannical ruler, and it’s about their reluctant parting.”
Charlie wade laughed, “What’s this? Is it about Jing Ke?”
“No way!” Stephanie giggled, “It’s just a fictional story, later the assassin kills the tyrant and returns to the woman, a proper happy ending.”
Charlie wade nodded, saying, “I’ll follow your lead, whatever you arrange, I’ll do.”
“Fantastic!” Stephanie was thrilled and quickly asked Tawana, “When do we start the first rehearsal?”
Tawana smiled and replied, “This afternoon! The show starts the day after tomorrow evening, so we’ll run through it this afternoon, do a proper rehearsal tomorrow daytime, and then the performance begins tomorrow night.”
Charlie wade said, “That’s quite a hassle today then, running around everywhere.”
Tawana asked curiously, “Do Mr Wade and Miss Stephanie have other plans at noon?”
Stephanie smiled and said, “Brother Charlie wade is having lunch at my house with my parents, but we’re free in the afternoon, though we’ve got a family dinner at his place in the evening, so the afternoon might be a bit tight.”
“No worries,” Tawana smiled, “You two sort out your noon plans, come over in the afternoon, we’ll prioritise your time and rehearse our interactive bit first, then you can head off.”
