Since there were no outsiders around and Charlie wade wasn’t present, Tawana mustered her courage and said, “I do like Mr. Wade, but it’s probably not what you think, other girls who like him might dream of ending up with him, but I wouldn’t dare entertain that thought…”
Stephanie asked curiously, “Why not?”
Tawana opened up for the first time, speaking without reservation, “My romantic history over the years has been pretty messy, there are tons of reports about me out there, and, well, not long after I met Mr. Wade, something big happened, tied to some foolish things I did in the past, so someone like me, with a ruined reputation in love, wouldn’t dare hope Mr. Wade would take an interest in me.”
Stephanie nodded understandingly, having spent years in the entertainment industry herself, she knew its ins and outs all too well.
Still, she smiled and comforted Tawana, “Lots of things don’t always go the way we expect, who knows what the future holds?”
Tawana asked her, “You must like Mr. Wade too, right?”
“Like?” Stephanie shook her head with a faint smile, “Liking isn’t enough, Brother Charlie wade is the only person I’ve loved wholeheartedly in my life, aside from my family.”
With that, she asked Tawana, “Do you know why I’m quitting the entertainment industry?”
Tawana shook her head and asked, “Why?”
Stephanie smiled, “My life plan going forward has just one goal, to marry Brother Charlie wade someday and become known as Mrs. Wade, so I need to start preparing now, the first step is cutting ties with the entertainment world, I didn’t join it to get famous or rich anyway, recently I achieved what I set out to do in the industry, so I’m ready to step back, but with so many fans, disappearing outright would be irresponsible, which is why I’ve been pushing through to finish my farewell tour, once this final show in Eastcliff is done, I’m out for good.”
“Plus, I don’t want to waste the best years of my life in the entertainment industry, where every word and move is scrutinised by society, with no privacy at all, even dating would get me flak from fans, to me, the entertainment world is like an amusement park, once you’ve had your fun, it’s time to go home.”
Tawana was quietly stunned, she hadn’t expected Stephanie to be so candid about her feelings for Charlie wade, she couldn’t help asking, “But… but Mr. Wade is already married, isn’t he?”
“I know,” Stephanie said with a smile, “Brother Charlie wade’s life is destined to be rich and colourful, whether it’s his current wife, me, or other women, we’re all part of it, I’m not trying to claim his whole life for myself, I just want my own little place in it.”
“My goodness…”
Tawana couldn’t wrap her head around it, exclaiming, “Aren’t Chinese women supposed to be really traditional? How can you have such a bold idea? It’s absolutely shocking.”
Stephanie laughed and asked, “Shocking? I think it’s fine, I’ve been in the entertainment industry so long, sure, I’ve kept myself clean, but I’ve still seen plenty of filth and ugliness, I’m sure it’s the same in the Western entertainment world, maybe even messier than here, once you’ve seen enough, your tolerance just grows, besides, you don’t know Brother Charlie wade well enough yet, if you understood his abilities, you’d realise the mundane world will eventually lose its power to bind him.”
With that, Stephanie stood up, smiling, “Come on, it’s about time for rehearsal!”
