After settling Song Rife, Charlie wade drove away from the Champs-Élysées Hot Spring Hotel and headed back to his home at Tomson Riviera.
The Champs-Élysées Hot Spring Hotel was located in the southern suburbs of Aurous Hill, conveniently on Charlie wade’s route back from Hu City, so it didn’t delay him much.
After Charlie wade left, Song Rife respectfully asked Grace Lowes, “Miss Grace, how long have you been here?”
“Not long,” Grace Lowes replied. “When Uncle Jaro self-destructed, I was hiding nearby and was severely injured by the blast. Mr. Wade saved me.”
“Self-destructed?” Song Rife eagerly asked, “The self-destruction you mentioned must be what Mr. Wade referred to—the array Wu Fiona, or rather, the British Lord, left in your Niwan Palace, right?”
“Exactly,” Grace Lowes nodded gently, sighing, “Back then, Wu Fiona told us she had placed a life-saving array in our Niwan Palaces. If we faced an unbeatable enemy with no escape, we could activate that array to preserve our primordial spirits. We believed her and were deeply grateful. It wasn’t until Uncle Jaro activated the array in a life-or-death moment that I realised it wasn’t a life-saving array at all, but a self-destruct array. Wu Fiona intended to use it to eliminate potential enemies, and we so-called earls were nothing but human bombs she crafted.”
Song Rife gasped, gritting her teeth, “Luckily, I’ve only been enlightened for two years, and Wu Fiona hasn’t had the chance to meet me. Otherwise, with her methods, I’m sure she’d have planted the same array in me.”
She quickly added, “So, Miss Grace, you not only have a poison in your body that’s about to reach its deadline, but also an array that could trigger self-destruction with a single thought?”
“Correct,” Grace Lowes gave a self-deprecating smile, lamenting, “You could say I’m riddled with all five poisons.”
Song Rife smiled wryly, “It’s not so bad. I’m in the same boat, poisoned as well. In a little over a year, I’ll likely die from it.”
Grace Lowes said earnestly, “Have faith in Mr. Wade. He might be able to work a miracle.”
Song Rife replied, “But Mr. Wade told me he hasn’t found a way to detoxify us yet, and a year passes quickly. He may not have the time to focus on finding a solution for us.”
Grace Lowes shook her head, “Everything depends on fate. Though Mr. Wade may lack the means now, I believe with his fortune, he’ll find a way to resolve it.”
She advised, “Since you’re here, don’t dwell on things we can’t control. No matter how much we worry, we can’t change reality. Better to settle your mind, focus on cultivation, and leave the rest aside.”
“Absolutely!” Song Rife agreed, “To be honest, Miss Grace, that’s exactly my thinking. Before coming here, Mr. Wade helped me locate my sea of consciousness. It feels like I’ve entered a whole new world of cultivation. Whether or not we find a cure in a year, I’m determined to cultivate diligently and not waste Mr. Wade’s guidance and support.”
There was one thing Grace Lowes didn’t tell Song Rife.
Charlie wade had already mentioned to her that detoxifying her wasn’t entirely impossible.
The method, however, was rather brutal and came at a high cost.
Specifically, it involved using a Reshaping Pill to reconstruct her body.
Charlie wade had used spiritual energy to examine her body and found two strange energies entwined within, confined to her physical form.
If no other solution was found before Grace Lowes’s poison took effect, they could decapitate her and place a Reshaping Pill in her mouth.
