Upon seeing Bruce Brown being knocked down, Charlie wade felt a sudden sense of boredom in his heart. It was like raising an electronic pet, hoping it would grow up quickly, but unexpectedly, it died right after the first feeding.
Feeling utterly uninterested, he watched as Bruce Brown and his group of underage underlings were taken away by the ambulance. He sighed, waved his hand, and said, “I even told that police chief to enforce the law impartially after two days, just to give him two days to indulge himself properly. I didn’t expect him to cool off so quickly.”
Don Albert quickly asked, “Master Wade, is that little bastard dead?”
“Not quite.” Charlie wade shook his head. “I didn’t hit an artery. As long as he’s not sent to a vet clinic, he shouldn’t die. However, his right leg is definitely ruined. After recovery, he’ll have to use a crutch.”
Don Albert laughed. “No problem. Back in Hong Kong, there was a big shot called Limping Hao, right? Maybe this kid can make some waves after he recovers.”
Charlie wade retorted, “Limping Hao became a big shot first and then turned lame. If he had been lame from the start, he wouldn’t even have made it to Hong Kong, let alone become a big shot.”
Don Albert scratched his head and chuckled. “You’re right. This kid is nothing but a feather and now he’s lame. He’s definitely done for.”
“Forget it.” Charlie wade said disinterestedly. “Let’s go. Head to the hotel first. There’s important business to handle. Old Cameron, have the hotel prepare a three-bedroom suite. We need to sort out the clues and find a way to locate Steward Tang.”
“Alright!” Isaac Cameron immediately agreed, made a phone call to give instructions, and then drove straight to the Buckingham Palace Hotel in Melbourne.
On the way, Charlie wade didn’t receive a reply from Claire Wilson. He picked up his phone and sent her another WeChat message. “Wife, are you busy?”
After sending it, he held the phone with both hands, waiting for a reply.
But even when Isaac Cameron drove to the hotel, he still hadn’t received a response from Claire Wilson.
Charlie wade felt a bit uneasy in his heart. Claire Wilson had never taken so long to reply before. Could she have encountered some problem?
So, he immediately called Claire Wilson. To his surprise, her phone indicated it was out of service area.
His heart skipped a beat. He quickly called his father-in-law, Jacob Wilson, to ask what was going on, but unexpectedly, Jacob Wilson’s phone was also out of service area.
He then called his mother-in-law, Elaine, with the same result.
Charlie wade’s heart grew increasingly tense. He couldn’t understand why Claire Wilson and her parents had suddenly gone out of contact.
So, he called Claire Wilson’s company. After explaining his identity, the administrative staff who answered said, “Hello, Mr. Wade. President Wilson didn’t come to work today.”
“Didn’t come to work?!” Charlie wade pressed. “Has she contacted you all?”
The staff said, “President Wilson instructed us yesterday to organise all work materials and deliver them to the respective clients. Everyone is to hold on until the last day of the month, and then the company will officially dissolve.”
“Dissolve?!” Charlie wade’s expression tightened, immediately sensing something was wrong. He quickly asked, “Has the company run into any issues? Why the sudden dissolution?”
The staff replied, “The company hasn’t encountered any problems. President Wilson said she’s too exhausted to continue and wants to retire.”
Charlie wade said tensely, “I’ve never heard her mention anything about retiring!”
The staff asked in surprise, “You didn’t know?! President Wilson told us that you don’t want her to work so hard at starting a business anymore.”
