The Simulator Chapter 14 - LiddRead

The Simulator Chapter 14

After finishing the tedious preparations, Lu Yao was finally able to return to operating The God Simulator.

The upper right corner of the game interface showed a population of 254 and a faith of 21.

The population reproduction within the Garlic Tribe was much slower than Lu Yao thought. It wasn’t that the Pixellets didn’t have a passion for making people, they did give birth to some babies, but most of them died prematurely, and not many of them survived to grow up.

Now it was already an improvement over before.

In the early days, the chances of a baby growing up safely was less than one in ten, now Lu Yao visually estimated it to be around three in ten.

The high infant mortality rate, in addition to the infrastructure problems that the tribe could not solve in a short period of time, another key point was the lack of doctors or pharmacists.

The only doctor in the Garlic Tribe is a shaman, and he alone has to cover the medical needs of the entire tribe.

Healing Lv2: Able to heal various diseases and injuries, healing ability is related to ability level, knowledge and mana.

……

There are new lives being born and old lives dying.

Injuries that go untreated and death from aging are the most prominent ways in which tribes attrition occurs. The dead pixelated villains were buried in the forest by the others to return them to the earth and nature.

This had been a custom of the forest tribes of the past, and was carried on by the New Garlic Tribe.

The end of winter was quickly followed by a particularly hot summer.

The entire game screen was filled with a pale yellow light, large swaths of grass on the ground dried up and yellowed, and the water level of the river to the east dropped, revealing more of its banks after.

Smoke rose from the heads of all the tribe’s villains, caught in the extreme heat. They usually hid in their huts, only going out to farm and hunt in the morning and evening when it wasn’t too hot.

The blistering sun and drought continued to persist, causing the little people to once again pray around the temple.

“Lord Yao God, please give us rain!”

“The heat is unbearable, if it continues like this, the wheat and garlic will dry up and everyone will die.”

“Merciful Yao God, Great Yao God, save us!”

Lu Yao wasn’t stingy and directly spent 10 points of faith to unfold the miracle [Rainfall].

The long-lost rain descended on the parched land, causing the pixelated little people of the tribe to raise their voices in joy and praise the gods.

The Prophet and the Shaman were talking at this time, however.

“The gods have sent down rain to ease the heat. But one cannot ask the gods endlessly; as servants of the gods, we have been given too much and done too little.”

“The heat may return, the land has lost its water and the fields are struggling to grow wheat and garlic. A long-lasting and reliable solution must be thought of while the gods send rain.”

The two tribal wise men thought and thought, but neither had a clue.

So Lu Yao hauled them to the river.

The shaman moved back and forth along the river and suddenly a light bulb lit up in his head.

“I see! You can dig a ditch in the ground to draw the river water over, that way you’ll be able to get water easily. And once it rains, it will also be able to store the rainwater.”

The two immediately called on the entire Garlic Tribe to gather all the manpower of the tribe to dig a river ditch.

The pixelated little people got up early in the morning and dug the ditch, and little by little, they drew the river water to the side of the farmland, dug out a small pond, and then returned to the river from the other side, turning the water in the ditch into living water.

New hints keep popping up on the game interface.

[The Garlic Tribe learns about ditches and recognises irrigation and drainage.]

[The Garlic Tribe has learnt about irrigation, and farmland yields have increased.]

[The Garlic Tribe gained prestige with other tribes for mastering the new technology.]

The drought continues.

After completing the primary ditch, the Garlic Tribe was still suffering from the heat, but basic drinking water and irrigation was guaranteed, and the Pixellets were emotionally stabilised.

It was in the midst of this long drought that the Barbarian Tribe returned for the third time.

A total of thirty-two barbarians took part in the attack, excluding the old and sickly of their tribe, it was a robbery with the whole tribe’s strength.

“Hand over the water and food! Damned heretics!”

“Rob the water and food!”

“No resistance!”

“Hunger, hunger! Thirst, thirst!”

The barbarian tribe looked imposing, but the slogans they shouted gave Lu Yao a smile.

They couldn’t even get enough to eat, and they were still cursing heretics?

You won’t even ask for food, you have to kneel before you have a door.

Today’s Garlic Tribe is not afraid of attacks of this order of magnitude. The hunters, armed with bows and arrows, easily shoot down the warriors of the barbarian tribe.

Twelve of the barbarians died in this battle, and the remaining twenty were all captured.

It looked like they had completely lost their minds and were tortured by the drought to the point of self-abandonment.

As the barbarian tribes were more like nomads in the mountains, specialising in hunting and looting, they completely lost their food supply during this long drought, and water sources were also extremely scarce.

So they had no choice but to take up their old skills and go down the mountain to loot and find a way to survive.

With a little persuasion from the shaman, the barbarians immediately surrendered, willing to join the Garlic Tribe, shouting under their breath that they would never betray.

This gave Lu Yao reason to wonder if they had planned to defect to the Garlic Tribe long ago.

It s just that the simple minded barbarians don t know how to get the Garlic Tribe to accept them …… Of course, it could also be that the barbarians have the idolatrous baggage of being a warrior. Surrendering after a fight seems more convincing.

The barbarians talked about the state of the tribe today.

“It’s too hot, and the tribe has lost a lot of people.”

“The tribe has run out of food, everyone is hungry and there is no water, thirsty, and Lord Demon still needs sacrifices.”

“The hero was eaten by the demon as a sacrifice.”

“We went everywhere to rob them, but we couldn’t, and many died.”

“Finally we came here.”

What they said also proved Lu Yao’s guess from the side.

Demon Jack wasn’t a player who ran a stream, and the Barbarian Tribe was more like tool people to him. Exactly how the barbarians were living was not something he considered at all, he would only force the barbarians to go around looking for prey to sacrifice, not even the barbarian heroes.

The Barbarian Tribe exists in name only.

Lu Yao was prepared to wait through this dry season and find a time to completely eliminate the barbarian tribe. However, he didn’t realise that they couldn’t cope with the extreme climate. Under the indiscriminate coverage of nature’s great power, the human group is more than who can adapt to the environment.

At least we have solved a problem.

Lu Yao craned his neck and stretched.

Isabelle beside him suddenly looked out the window, her voice serious: “My lord, the devil’s breath.”

“Demon?”

Lu Yao walked to the window and looked out.

The alleys and streets were empty; it was nightfall at this time of day, and with the perverts infesting the neighbourhood, there was only a white dingo dog wandering the streets.

“Where is it?”

Isabel pointed down the street to a corner.

There lay a middle-aged man. The man appeared to be drunk and was leaning against the curb with a puddle of filth puked up around him.

The wild dog made its way over to the man and sniffed.

Then it made a move that Lu Yao didn’t expect.

The wild dog took a bite out of the man’s clothes and dragged him bit by bit towards the parking alley.

“My lord, please order me to hunt demons.” Isabel said.

Lu Yao asked, “How can I contact you if you go to deal with demons?”

“With my eyes.”

Isabelle reached out and gouged into her left eye socket, digging out her left eye with her fingers and handing it to Lu Yao.

It was a white eyeball with green pupils, and the eyeball had a jewel-like cold texture and crystalline luster, like some kind of ancient artefact.

“My lord. The things I see with my power of faith will be shown to you through this eye. You can also give me new commands through the eye.”

Lu Yao carefully held the eyeball in his hand and instructed, “Be careful and safe, don’t let the others discover your identity.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Isabelle’s body was wrapped in a cloud of black mist, which quickly coalesced into a black robe, and her eyes were once again covered by a black cloth, restoring her initial appearance.

Men’s shirts, sunglasses, and jeans flew out of the black robes, and the clothes were scattered all over the bed.

Isabel leapt off the windowsill and into the night.
