Jodi the tree demon has two hobbies.
One is eating pixies.
Two is pretending to look for a husband and then after the other person wracks their brain to come up with a lame story, turning into their true form and saying you’re fantastic! You’re the husband I want!
Most of the people who come along will be scared sh*tless and then run away without looking back in fear.
There were also some who, for the sake of the treasure, had the guts to force a smile on their faces and find ways to ask for gifts.
Jodi would present the person with a large treasure chest.
What’s in the treasure chest?
An adult pearl-eating crab!
A single pearl on its back is worth a lot of money and is indeed considered a precious treasure in the sea.
It’s just that this beautiful man-eating crab is also usually very cranky, especially after being kept in a box for many years.
If the opponent is lucky enough to survive at the hands of the treasure chest, then on to the next part.
Jodi will give the opponent a sword and tell him that it is the great King’s Sword. Hold it and become a marvellous ruler!
However, the sword was sealed by the old gods, so it needed the blood of a “lake nymph” to restore the sword’s power.
Once it regains its power, the King’s Sword will turn the holder into a demigod and become the absolute monarch of the southern continent.
At that point, Jyoti would deliberately reveal a breach.
Whether it was pretending to be asleep, or being weak from an injury, or stating that her spells had backfired and she had to rest and could not be disturbed …… to create all sorts of opportunities for the other party to be able to sneak attack and assassinate.
Once the other party stabbed herself with the sword, Jodie would squeeze out tears that had been brewing for a long time.
“Why? Why …… why did you do this to me!”
Just as his opponent was getting the better of him, Jodie would finish him off.
“Accept my righteous sanction! Negative!”
The Negative collapsed in regret and pain.
Lonely woman puts away that fake sword and continues to search for a home ……
In this way, the story of the female tree demon and her husband goes on and on, never ending.
It’s just that lately, Jodi has been hiding in the sea and hasn’t come out much.
The general environment is not good.
A god had come to the forest, and He was so shrouded in white mist that it was impossible to see His true face. The aura and oppression of only a god on the other side scared Jyoti.
However, the deity’s focus seemed to be on the elves and that elfin lake, and was not focused on himself.
Though technically, tree demons were elves too.
It’s just that elves never think so, and there isn’t a second tree demon in this land.
Jodie thought that was strange.
Elves love trees, but hate tree demons.
Aren’t tree demons just trees that grow up to be smarter?
Then she gradually understood.
Elves preferred clumsy wood because trees were unthreatening, giving them both the power of the forest element and the ability to be transformed and bossed around at their whim.
Anything too smart, the elves don’t like.
Jodie thought it was unfair.
Why shouldn’t trees be able to stand up? Why should trees have to listen to elves?
Jodi decided to take a stand for all the trees.
She takes control of the symbiotic grove of trees and crosses each other underground with her roots and burrows into Faerie Lake. This way each elf returns to the elf lake when it dies, and she sucks up and eats the elves through the roots, realising what the elves were really thinking and what their lives were really like.
Most of the elves are even sillier than she thought, and each one is pretty much the same, which is really boring.
Jodie turned her attention outside.
Those outside adventurers were much more interesting than the elves.
So there’s the extra-long continuous stage play of the tree demon and the negative man.
……
Not long ago, Jodie had met a brave man. He was looking for slave traders and seemed to have a great past.
Unfortunately, the other man had absolutely no intention of getting involved in the negative theatre.
This was Avray regrettable for Jodi.
If she was forcing the other party, it would not only spoil the fun, but it would also scare the others and tarnish the reputation of her own [Fairy of the Lake] legend.
In the end.
Jodi goes around looking for other people’s stories, making her own, and having fun.
After living alone for centuries, it always gets boring.
Just as Jodi was about to avoid the divine might of the gods and hide in the sea for shelter, a group of people suddenly found their way to the beach where she was.
At the head of the group was the man who was looking for the slave trader earlier, it seemed that he had found help. Behind them were several heavily armed dwarves, in addition to a young man in black.
Jyoti laughed in her heart.
The key to winning against the lake fairies wasn’t by being outnumbered.
“How do you do? May I ask if you are the Lake Fairy?”
It was the young man among them who spoke.
His skin was a little dark and he looked like he had been walking around a lot. He wore long black robes, carried a travelling bag wrapped in sheepskin, and had a large conch touched to the waist.
What impressed Jodie most was that the other man would look intently into his eyes as he spoke, very seriously.
The young man asked, “Is it true that you can get treasures from you by telling stories?”
“Of course.”
So the other man opened his mouth and spoke.
Many years later, Jodi would remember that little story.
“In Yao City in the Western Continent, there was a young man named Mu Ke. He fell in love with a beautiful girl, and he had to roll the dice to win the other side in order to gain the girl’s favour ……”
“…… In the end, he lost to another beloved woman, and until the time of his death, he could no longer speak. All he could do was ask the other person, “Was my game bad?”
“The girl who was no longer young said, No, I think it’s great, it’s fun.”
“He became a ghost of the theatre and kept waiting for his game to be put on the stage.”
“This is the story of [The Phantom of the Opera].”
Jodi couldn’t get enough of it.
She handed the young man a gem, “One more.”
The young man happily accepted the jewel and told her story after story …… until the sky whitened and the sun rose over the sea.
That’s when Jodie realised that something wasn’t right, something wasn’t right.
The process was wrong!
“Will you be my husband?” Jodi returned to the subject.
“This …… you are rich right?” The other asked cautiously.
“Of course!”
“Then I will!”
“……”
Jodi felt a little weird.
This guy was totally with himself for the money, and he didn’t know whether to call it frankness or being too poor.
“Because I’m going to travel around, and without money, I’ll have to work all the way around, and it’s too much of a waste of time.” The other guy explains, “If you have money, can you support me in travelling around?”
“I’m going to write stories about everything I see and hear along the way.”
The man opened the sheepskin parcel and handed her a thick book, “You can read Yao script, right? This is full of stories and legends that I have travelled to three cities and jotted down along the way.”
“But there are more people whose stories have yet to be told. They’ve done remarkable deeds that need to be recorded, and I want to write everyone’s stories.”
Jodi glanced at the thick leather book half full of dense writing.
She shifted, and her original fairy-like appearance in white disappeared without a trace. The body turned into a lime green skin, and the eyes even turned orange, with only a little black pupil inside.
The female tree demon’s skin was covered in spells all over her body, and a single crow circled around her.
Jodie spat out her tongue as if it were a snake’s letter and laughed fiercely, “Are you still willing to be my husband now?”
“Willing!”
The other replied without hesitation.
Jodi thought to herself, this guy has a lot of guts.
So she made a move with her hand and a large treasure chest flew out of the sea.
“Too much, too much.”
The man waved his hand, “I’m going to be travelling around, you just need to give me a little bit of travel money. I can’t carry so much.”
“……”
Jodi was in a bit of a bind.
This guy had come prepared.
Next, it’s the King’s Sword.
Joti drew the golden sword and spoke about the strength and power that the King’s Sword carried. However, the other party didn’t seem to like it very much, and even yawned a bit absentmindedly.
Instead, there were three dwarves in the back, whispering. They spoke in tongues, but Joti understood them in a little bit because of her high intelligence.
“Is this sword made of gold? It’s so amateurish, a sword made of gold breaks when you touch it, it’s soft and flimsy, this thing is useless.”
“Even if it’s gold plated it won’t work ah, this fairy isn’t very good at ironworking, she doesn’t know smelting and casting.”
“She should be a novice, look at how skinny she is, that arm is like a dry twig, it’s hard enough to swing a hammer.”
“There is no furnace seen around ah, the gold on this sword is mostly fake.”
“Fake at a glance.”
Jodi clenched her fists in anger.
These damned dwarves, just picking at things!
Calm down, calm down, Jodi!
You’re the wise and graceful tree demon.
She looked ahead to the rightful owner, keeping a smile on her face.
The man however shook his head at the sword, “I don’t want to conquer anyone ……”
“I’ve been a slave before, beaten and cursed, and I want there to be no more slaves in the world.”
He smiled, “Surely both prophets and heroes, monsters and mortals, want to be remembered and praised.”
“Only the gods will live on with the world and be immortalised forever. We are born alone and small, and will always be drowned in the rivers of time, and it would be a lucky accolade to be remembered as a story.”
“……”
Jodi listened with a few moments of despondency.
“What’s your name?”
“Pava.”
“Good, Pava. From today, you have a wife. I’ll pay you to spread the word about me and everyone else, will you?”
“I …… will.”
“I will eat you as you are about to die, and in doing so gain the story of your life. Is that also willing?”
“Like that? That’s pretty good too.”
Pava scratched her head and said, “The island I live on, there’s a group of people next to me who are like that, where the wives will eat their husbands to raise children. It’s really hard to raise kids.”
Jodi sighed.
What a stupid man.
“It’s time for you to go. Go to the forest, north of the elven lake all the way, there are gems, pearls and agates under a pile of rocks, take them and go.”
“Eh? But we’ve only just been married.” Pava froze for a moment.
“I’m letting you go!”
If you don’t leave, you will suffer the wrath of the gods.
Jodi looked into the distance.
The blurred white shadows of the gods had descended, and the warlike aura was unmistakable to her.
The group of monsters in the forest were all eyeing themselves.
The gods had found out what they had done to the elves and the elfin lake a long time ago, hadn’t they?
At the end, one gets a different story.
Jodi was content.
Sunlight suddenly descended in the air, encircling Jyoti and Pawel, warming them, and the place instantly became the centre of attention around them.
From the sky flew a blindfolded woman in black.
She rode a wand and landed lightly.
The woman in black whispered, “This is a blessing from the Lord God to you as a couple.”
“Grateful!” Pawel said excitedly.
Jyoti froze for a moment and hurriedly followed Pava’s example as they dropped to their knees in gratitude.
“Finally, lift the curse of the Elven Lake. The gods forgive you, Joti.” The woman in black said.
Jodie panicked and said, “Yes, well …… obeyed! Thank you beyond words for the mercy of the gods, my lord.”
She glanced at the young man next to her in the afterglow.
If she had a baby with this guy, would she give birth to a little tree, or a little baby?
Or a tree-headed man running around?
And trees with human heads?
It feels so troublesome …… Jodi has a bit of a headache.
