Lu Yao watched the final days of the commerce plan from the sidelines.
This villain, who had come up with slavery in Yancheng, ended up dying in a cotton field.
Business schemes and business profits are like the two faces of Salt City; one of them dominates the discourse, and the other has to run for cover.
In terms of governing the city, Shang Kei was simply no match for Shang Li. With some of his manipulations, he made Salt City quickly lose its cohesion, and almost destroyed all the years of effort that Fishing Company and Shang Li had made in front of them.
Shang Kei was a hateful and pathetic pixelated villain, but his Ladybird Chronicles did give Lu Yao a few moments of interest.
He checked Shang Kei’s [history] during his lifetime
……
Witnessing strange ladybird type insects at age 63.
At age 69, completes The Ladybird Book.
……
After Shang Kei’s death, the Ladybird Chronicle circulated in Yao City.
Lu Yao overlooked the city and found scholars talking about the book.
“In The Ladybird Book, it says that the ladybirds on the island emit a strange scent that even man-eating crabs and fiery turkeys are addicted to. Is that really true?”
“A thousand times true. When I made my pilgrimage last year, I asked several sailors about it, and they had all seen those ladybirds, and the aroma is so strong that it is refreshing to smell. If the ladybird is infested, man-eating crabs will gather around it to smell it, and anyone nearby won’t be attacked as long as they don’t touch the ladybird.”
“What a marvellous bug, conquering man-eating crabs by its scent!”
“The Ladybird Chronicle records that ladybirds populate many small islands in the south, but they don’t seem to be able to cross the sea, so neither the Western nor Eastern continents have seen them.”
“It’s such a pity that the scholar who wrote the ‘Ladybug Record’, ‘Three Sheepskin’, if he could get rid of his slave status and come to Yao City he would definitely become a great scholar.”
“Being able to leave behind such a book, Mr Three Sheepskin is also enough to stay in history. Nowadays everyone also calls that musk ladybird ‘Three Sheep Ladybird’.”
“Fair enough.”
……
In Yao Cheng, much of the discussion of The Ladybird Chronicles revolves around the academic sphere.
For example, is the musky ladybird considered an ordinary bug or a transcendental creature?
Why does the musky ladybird smell so good? Does the fact that its scent is so irresistible that even man-eating crabs willingly follow and protect it mean that it is a special power? Can ladybirds be raised directly like Echinoid rabbits?
And so on.
But out west in Salt Lake City, The Ladybird Chronicles is making new waves.
The city library was packed, all coming to see the book.
“Read The Ladybird Book, read The Ladybird Book!”
“Come on, come on, make it quick.”
The doorway scholar was a bit helpless, “I’ve read The Ladybird Book ten times today …… If you guys need it, buy a book and go back to read it. My throat is going hoarse.”
“If I recognise words I need you to say it?”
“That’s right!”
“Read read read read, you’re going to read anyway, just read this one.”
Certainly not because the people of Salt Lake City love stories.
Rather, it’s because, well, they’re going to catch ladybirds.
One must learn about the habits of the musky ladybirds through this book in order to determine how and where to catch them.
One by one, the pixelated little people on the streets of Salt Lake City are equipped with bib nets, carrying cases and looking like per capita insect hunters. They hugged each other and together they rushed to the harbour to set sail, aiming straight for the ladybirds of the southern archipelago.
In the shops of Salt City, the musky ladybirds have become a hot commodity.
“Scented balls made of musky ladybirds! Limited to 3 today!”
“A jar of incense that can cure illnesses and soothe sleep, the crystallisation of a pure-blooded musk ladybird ……”
The best selling item inside, and the one that was the favourite of the public, was something called [sniffing wood].
This is a scented capsule made by hollowing out the wood and pouring in musk ladybirds, along with some flower petals and herbs. It retains its fragrance for a long time after it is sealed, and is easy to carry around, so it is suitable for both men and women.
The most expensive ones are live musk ladybirds.
While in Yancheng, Lu Yao saw only two musk ladybirds.
One was at the Prophet Dolun Nunu’s, who kept the three-goat ladybirds people sent him in a birdcage and placed them in the temple to increase the aroma.
The other was in the hands of a man named Saltbag.
He is both a Salt and a merchant. When Saltbag gets a live three-goat ladybird, he puts it in his shop for people to see and also helps sell ladybird merchandise.
Musk ladybird related merchandise, sniffing wood, incense jars, incense balls, and ladybird sculptures …… are being produced continuously from Saltbag, and sold all the way to Yaocheng, Saniro, the New World in the North and South, and many island groups overseas.
Relying on the rapid exports, large quantities of food, timber, ore, and cattle and horses are being shipped back to Yancheng in bulk to be turned into newly built houses and longer, wider streets in the city.
Under the impetus of the Musk Ladybug, Salt City saw a new wave of rapid development!
A large number of foreigners poured in. A significant portion of them were merchants, adventurers & people looking for job opportunities, and they were highly mobile. But once the population grew, the city’s activity level obviously came up.
Lu Yao’s divine perspective saw it clearly.
Behind this was the push from both Mayor Shang Li and Duo Lununu.
Dorenunu took the lead in raising live [musk ladybirds], making the insect synonymous with sanctity – with the permission of the White God in the temple, of course.
With a prophet leading the way and demonstrating, this became a weathervane of status and taste.
Merchantry was strongly advocated through the Citizens’ Council and united many merchants to expand into new markets with ladybirds as their merchandise.
With the explosion of ladybirds, the massive export of goods to the outside world, and the increasing population, Salt City also gained far more tax money than before, and was able to rapidly spread all kinds of urban construction.
The iconic harbour lighthouse from the past finally stood to the northwest of Salt City once more. Unfortunately, this time there were no hints of the wonders taking shape.
Lu Yao felt a bit marvellous.
The butterfly effect started with a ladybird, but it caused a not-so-small storm in the pixel world.
In Salt City, the densest concentration of civic dialogue is found in two taverns, one in the city and one in the harbour.
Outside the taverns in the city, a dialogue caught Lu Yao’s attention.
“There’s a treasure chest in the Elf Lake in the south, let’s go find the treasure chest while they’re off catching ladybirds, that’s the real chance!”
“The treasure chest is not easy to get, the elf giants over there are very fierce.”
“Huh? Hasn’t anyone ever got a treasure chest?”
“I heard there was. That’s why we came to the tavern to ask about it.”
The three villains burrowed into the tavern.
Lu Yao clicked on the tavern and entered the indoor overhead view.
The inside of the tavern was simply decorated, there was a counter at the entrance with wooden barrels filled with wine, and the owner poured wine in wooden cups for guests who needed it and bought the bill on the spot.
Rows of wooden tables and chairs leaned against the walls on either side, and most of the people drinking were talking non-stop, with words constantly popping up in overhead dialogue boxes.
Lu Yao’s perspective followed the three people who came in through the doorway.
The place was surrounded by drinkers, and a small man in the middle was drinking while bragging to the crowd.
“The two elf giants we encountered at first, each one is as tall as a small mountain, they wave their arms, and a hurricane …… blows around them We also died nine times and fought with them to get the treasure chest from them.”
Bragger continued, “But at the end, we are still by this group of monsters were caught up, in order to be able to leave safely, we can only drop the box, which are all bright crystal gemstones ah …… In the end, it is still in the beginning we are too few people, ate the loss.”
“Since I drank the wine that everyone invited, I will also tell you a secret ……”
“The treasure chest of the Elf Lake, you can’t use brute force, brute force can’t beat the elf giants.”
“I, Sea Urchin, have nothing else but guts and righteousness. Together with my partner, Merchant Rice dude, we thought about it for a month by the lake, and finally found a way!”
“Gift.”
“Those giants love gifts, but they’re so picky that they can’t see ordinary gifts. It has to be some special gift, like honey from …… crazy bees, which are very few in number, but one zap and the person dies.”
All the drinking buddies around him handed him glasses of wine and said, “I’ve never heard of this kind of honey, where can I find it?”
A smiley face floated above the sea urchin’s head, “Go find Shangmi, he’s still at the elfin lake, looking for crazy honey. I was thinking it was too much work, and he wants to find another way, so if you guys are going, you can see him on the side.”
Lu Yao remembered.
This sea urchin and the Shangmi he was talking about weren’t the two adventurers who had been dumbfounded by the big elf’s big mouth.
I don’t know what’s going on over at the Elven Lake.
Lu Yao’s perspective switched to the Southern New World.
Not far from the Elf Lake, a small cabin had been created at some point.
In front of the cabin stood a small man.
“I’m really sorry about the limited quantity. We are out of crazy honey for today. Please hurry tomorrow.”
The name [Shangmi] was displayed above the villain’s head.
Disappointed expressions surfaced on the heads of the little people outside buying honey.
Those who got the honey, on the other hand, ran happily all the way to the elfin lake and carefully placed the honey in front of it.
Within moments an elf came by and ate the honey clean out of the jar, then circled around them to show their appreciation, heart symbols sprouting from their heads.
These then point to the treasure chest in the lake.
That’s when the elves all shook their heads again, saying no.
Next to them, Merchant Rice explained to them, “Patience, my friends, it takes consistency and patience to gain the friendship and approval of the elves. They are like women, and these gifts are essential.”
“With persistent gifts of honey, they will open their hearts to you, and they will give you treasure chests!”
Lu Yao looked amused.
It really gave them two brothers to play the Elven Lake to understand.
