As the Divine War opened, the Funeral Tribes awoke from their slumber one after another, and they removed one of the black tombstones in the back and went to the front to rearrange them.
This was also the fastest way to construct a defence line.
The clusters of tombs formed an impenetrable barrier, with hundreds of black tombstones spewing out spectral fire at the same time, making it difficult for the enemy to break through this layer of defence.
Even if there was the occasional one that rushed forward, they would be blocked and intercepted by the ghouls, eliminated in conjunction with the spectral fire.
Salt Long took all of this in stride.
The Ghost World was waiting for the enemy to take advantage of the situation, but the strategic situation was not optimistic.
The enemy was not generalised.
The Bamboo Reed Kingdom on the attacking side, the main frontline pioneers were all clear bamboo beasts. They were made up of a combination of bamboo men in various forms.
The bamboo people were tall and slender, made up of a single bamboo tube, their bodies were extremely flexible and resistant to blows, their weakness was that they were not fast, and their damage explosiveness was insufficient.
However, in response to the Phantom Ghost Realm’s Tomb Cluster Front, the Bamboo People’s shortcomings weren’t much of a problem.
They had plenty of time to fuse with each other and piece together into bamboo beasts, some bamboo people became joints, some became spines, some served as limbs, some became body bones, and some constructed heads.
Numerous bamboo men nested and crossed each other, taking the form of bamboo beasts in battle.
Each bamboo beast was like a two-storey wooden house, and they were usually clad in special bamboo armour that made their bodies creak when they ran, but were light and agile when they fought.
They could stretch their bodies dramatically, and could turn and meander in all sorts of incredible ways, making it difficult for even the Tomb Group’s spectral fires to cross-hit them.
When burned by the spectral fire, the bamboo beasts would either shake off their back bamboo armour or withdraw immediately, making a change of bamboo men at the rear before charging back into battle.
The bamboo beasts attacked in two ways.
One is the simplest savage charge, through the sword horns, bamboo spears and bamboo thorns extended from its body, piercing through and tearing apart the ghouls as it runs at high speeds, destroying the rammed earth, masonry and even the phantom fire skeletons of the tombstones.
The second is to transport the bamboo warriors.
When the bamboo beasts broke through the fire net to reach the inner perimeter, they were able to spit out the bamboo people in their stomachs.
At this point, the armour-clad and sword-wielding Bamboo Man Warriors tumbled out one by one, and they would quickly use chisels and pickaxes to dig through the black tombstones and rush in to take over.
The ghosts were powerless against the bamboo warriors. So once the bamboo beasts closed in, the ghosts could only abandon the tomb and retreat. However, not far behind, the Funeral Clan would build new Black Tombstones to continue their defence.
The line was stalemated as both sides repeatedly pulled back.
The weakness of the Ghost World’s lack of mobility was also gradually exposed.
Salt Long had stayed in the Ghost Realm for many years and had a basic understanding of the situation here.
Don’t look at the nearly 100,000 people in this god’s country, most of them were ghosts. The ghosts gathered together to stay in the Black Tombstone, which could increase the lethality of the spectral fire, and could also continuously feed this spectacle.
The spectres were weak in battle and lacked the aid of equipment like the Spectre Armour. That was why they relied extremely on the Tombstone Spectral Flame, as well as the Tombstone Guard Ghouls when they fought.
Once the two layers of defence were breached, the ghosts lost their ability to resist.
The most central Funeral Clan actually numbered around 200 people. They were both Transcendents and ghoul variants, with a low birth rate and a long lifespan, but they couldn’t reproduce like ordinary people.
There are fewer of them than there are of ordinary people.
The Bamboo Beasts were aware of this, and while they destroyed the tombs, they specialised in attacking the mortals who appeared around the black tombstones to repair and build them.
In comparison, the Bamboo People were more numerous, more diverse in their strategies and tactics, and held the initiative.
The Bamboo Reed Nation side confirmed that the Underworld lacked the means to counterattack after testing the situation, and proceeded to divide the Bamboo Beasts into troops, attacking and pulling from different areas and fronts.
It appeared that the bamboo beasts in quite a few places were getting the short end of the stick, but Yanjiu, who was able to move swiftly through the sand, could see clearly that most of the bamboo beasts were feints, and that their true target of attack was the Funeral Race. They were not afraid to exchange their lives for lives to consume the true core strength of the tomb group
If the divine war couldn’t be ended in a short time, it would turn into a competition of combined power between divine kingdoms.
Having personally witnessed the battle between King Uzi and the Glass God, Saltjou already knew about this.
But the Ghost Realm wasn’t at a complete disadvantage.
Morticians were able to use their bodies to receive ghosts, and when the bamboo people died in battle, the ghosts would be collected and transformed into the living forces of the Psi Ghost Realm, and the tomb complex was able to slowly strengthen.
So although the size of the tomb cluster was gradually shrinking, the individual strength was continuously increasing, and the front line was basically clear of second-order tombstones, as well as the third-order tombstones supporting the rear.
Over the course of three years, the war became more and more intense, with warriors from both sides continuously dying in battle, and their respective hidden forces all revealing themselves to the surface.
A fourth-order black tombstone appeared on the battlefield.
It had four layers, but the monolith was covered in blood, and the skeleton on it had rotting flesh growing on the left half of its face, the right half of its face was nothing but bone, and in its eye grottoes were two balls of green fire.
It bit and chewed its upper and lower jaws, emitting a rattling, strange laugh.
The ghostly fire gushing out from the eyes of the half-face skeleton had strong adhesion, igniting at the slightest point, and would quickly spread on the bamboo beast, killing and injuring.
When the fourth-stage tombstone first appeared, the two bamboo beasts were burnt to black ash in the first exchange.
The skeleton let out a piercingly strange laugh as it watched its prey struggle and wail in agony in the flames.
Before the people of the Spectral Ghost Realm could be happy, the half-faced skeleton sprayed flames at its own people again, burning the four ghouls to the ground as well, and eventually turning them into charcoal as well.
This crazy skeleton did not distinguish between enemy and self, as long as the others entered its attack range, they would all be burned for fun.
The fourth rank tombstone had metamorphosed from a [Black Tombstone] into a [Crazy Tombstone].
Yanjiu finally understood why the Fourth Order Tombstone was not visible.
This kind of uncontrollable thing was a disaster in peacetime.
And the hundreds of ghosts in the fourth-order tombstones were all completely absorbed by the skeletons in a near-sacrifice that was extremely costly.
The Bamboo Reed Country side immediately made countermeasures.
A type of bamboo beast that had never appeared before entered the battlefield.
They were like large spiked dragonflies, relying on their slim and wide wings to glide through the air.
Shiohisa looked very surprised.
The Bamboo Reed Kingdom was actually able to control the high altitude area, which was really the worst news for the Phantom Ghost Realm.
He soon realised that he had overestimated the Bamboo People.
Bamboo birds were not able to fly on their own, they needed to stop at the towering and continuous flying bamboo towers built by the Bamboo People, and then the pliable bamboo ropes formed by the many Bamboo People stretched the bamboo birds in arrow form and then threw them out with a huge force.
The whole process was like archery.
The bamboo bird in arrow form is shot into the clouds, then it will open its wings and start flying with the help of the high winds in the sky.
This process requires a tall and special bamboo tower, the precise co-ordination of the bamboo people, the precise control of the bamboo bird, and the use of the weather and wind.
Salt long secretly observed, found that the success rate of the bamboo bird takeoff is not high, often takeoff failed to crash down. It was thought that this was the reason why the Bamboo Reed Kingdom had not been fully rolled out in the first place, and like the fourth-order tombstones, it was attritional and immature.
Even if it happens to be successful, the Bamboo Bird is unable to fly for a long time, basically circling the battlefield, drawing an arc and then turning back to fly back.
If not returned in time, the bamboo bird’s altitude would rapidly decrease, making it difficult to control and easy to crash in enemy-occupied territory.
Although it cannot fly long distances, it is also true that it occupies the high ground.
Bamboo birds are of great strategic importance. Not only were they able to cross the tomb cluster line and clearly observe the tombstone arrangement of the Phantom Ghost Realm, they were also able to further survey the position of the Funeral Clan in the rear.
They began to drop Bamboo People into the depths of the Ghost Realm, carrying out sabotage and assassination of Funeral Race everywhere, making the crazy tombstone arrangement in the front as if it was a punch on cotton.
……
Saltjuben wasn’t going to make a move.
This was a war between two gods and a confrontation between two divine kingdoms.
In the end, he himself was just an outsider. Apostle Buluo had also said that he should not participate in the divine war.
But not long ago, a flock of bamboo birds suddenly aimed at himself.
One by one, the Bamboo Man soldiers descended from the sky, their bodies twisting before they stood unharmed, and they wielded bamboo swords and spears, launching swift attacks on him without any hesitation.
“Finally found you, foreign believer spy!”
“How dare you sneak around in the back to collect our country’s secrets, you can’t run away today!”
“Today you die!”
Salt Long was also a bit helpless.
Originally, he only wanted to spectate, but unexpectedly, he was still caught up in it.
When war comes, no one can really stay out of it.
In that case.
Then let’s enjoy the battle.
Shiohisa’s blurred and sandy head regained its face as he raised his hand and said, “Shiohisa Salt City, please instruct me.”
