The Simulator Chapter 307

The subtitles on the monitor continued.

–Great God, there is a believer who has performed a feat that far surpasses his peers, is there a need to transform him into a hero?

Lu Yao clicked on the prompt bar, and the screen jumped to the Pillar’s Mountain in the Divine Kingdom of Adhesion.

Inside a luxurious castle, Cactus Shagga was rummaging through the bookshelves, and it was glowing with a shimmering light.

Lu Yao transforms it, and thus the first hero of this emerging race is born.

On the stand-up, it was a back-box cactus with its arms clasped over its chest. Clad in a broad cloak, it gazed at a pair of blood-coloured holes in the black curtain in front of it, the cactus’s cavernous eyes full of fighting spirit.

And behind it floated a tall samurai in silver armour stomach, the samurai wielding a wide hilted, narrow silver longsword, pale flames rising from his body as if it were a mist.

Underneath the individual’s standing picture it reads.

–Everyone believes it is real, then it really exists.

……

The god descended the boon, causing the body of Shaga by the bookshelf to freeze.

It panicked and knelt on the ground, “Great and benevolent Lord Yao God, your loyal follower, Shaga, is grateful for your love and revelation.”

Lu Yao clicked on the world background and flipped up Shaga’s detailed experience.

Shagga had started writing under Pava’s guidance.

Unlike Pava’s pure love, Shagga’s beginning was more or less a ‘you give as much as you want, and I’ll do whatever you tell me to do’.

Initially, it was just writing on paper for fun, with the aim of practising some basic techniques for transcribing and revising the first draft of the Book of Graves. However, Saga was very slow in writing, and even though he had been trying to learn the Yao script on his own, his writing ability was still poor, so he mostly used drawings to represent the meaning.

If the Book of Graves was a gruelling formal task, the Templars were a little game for relaxation.

Sagat composed a short story through a single drawing.

These stories were found and embellished by Pava, and gradually the beginnings of The Templar came about.

Pava soon realised that Shagga had inadvertently perhaps written an incredible story. It was something that had never been seen before in Yao history, a fictionalisation of the group [the Templars] in a realistic way.

According to Shagga’s setting, the Templars were warriors who had been summoned by the gods, and their greatest characteristic was that each of them had a unique [Holy Wish].

The Holy Wish was not a wish, but a self-aware armour that housed the miracles absorbed from the gods and made by the hands of the Templars’ apostles.

This armour represents the status of a temple warrior, and only they can wear it and unlock the vast power in the Holy Wish.

The chosen warrior needs to go through harsh and dangerous tests. Only after he has constantly pushed his limits and fully honed his fighting skills and will will he receive the [Sacred Wish] and become a [Templar] of Yao Shen.

Shagga elaborates in the book that challenging limits is a cultivation method inspired by the gods, and many people think wrongly that this does not actually mean abandoning armour, magic potions and all sorts of new-fangled equipment.

The purpose of pushing one’s limits is to complete the Templar Trials.

The historic Templars were once an important combatant in the Divine War, they participated in the extermination of the various evil gods, and later defeated the Calamity Beasts, entered the God infested abyss, and even arrived at the other Divine Kingdoms …… They offered their praises and their lives for the Yao Gods, and they were the most loyal close guards of the gods.

Lu Yao took a little look and saw the archetype of this setting.

The Holy Wish originated from the Ghost Armour, the Stigma and the Wishing Star, and behind it were the various deeds left behind by the Apostles over the years.

The Templars, an extension and hypothesis of the group of martial practitioners.

Saga gives emphasis at the beginning and end of Templars.

-The Templars are purely fictional.

But this seems to have caused a backlash, creating a stronger interest in a significant portion of the population. They began to follow the footsteps of the Templars’ haunts in the book, checking the known historical documents of the Yao Clan.

These people were then surprised to find that every single one of those heroes and prophets who had brushes with the Templars was actually real.

These ancient leaders now lived in ghost form in Saniro and could easily be checked against the parties involved.

The heroes in spectral form were also very startled, one by one, when they saw how they were described in the book. This was because the details recorded on the paper could absolutely only be written with such precision and detail if one had personally questioned oneself, or someone who was present at the time.

Once the old heroes gave their feedback, it even inspired everyone to search for the Templars and track down the mysterious writer Shagga.

Lu Yao knew that it was all because of Pava.

No one knew more about hero legends than Pava, and when he was still walking under the name Pava, he had dedicated his life to collecting, organising and retelling the heroic deeds of the Yao clan.

With him as a first-hand chronicler, Shagga’s writing was certainly full of realism.

What was even more surprising to Lu Yao was that originally, Shaga was the one who acted as an assistant and assisted Zuo Pawar in writing the book, but now the castle was reversed, and Pawar had turned into Shaga’s advisor and assistant, and was helping the young writer with further proofreading and revisions in order to complete the newest book in the Templars series, The War of the Gods.

“No, Sagat, something’s not right here.”

“Lord Yao God’s will is transmitted through the Apostle Elders, and mortals are unable to hear the voice of the gods directly, but only through gifts and revelations in order to comprehend the oracles.”

“In the world where the Yao live, there were also some foreign gods in the early days, and they were also very powerful and had different styles. The strongest among them presumed to challenge the divine might of the Yao Gods, which led to a series of divine wars.”

“You have to understand that divine wars are different from secular wars, they are confrontations between the miracles and divine might of the divine realm, a stepping stone to prove faith and glory.”

“The confrontation between the apostles can still be seen, the body of the gods cannot be seen directly.”

……

Pawar gigantically imparted his experience to Shagga, recounting various details.

A dialogue box rose above Shagga’s head, “Mr. Matthews, why are you helping me so much? I’m just your assistant, this book should leave your name.”

“Hahahahaha, that’s something that belongs to you, cherish your talent.”

Pava in armour spoke, “You are wrong about one thing. I am also involved in the writing and creation of this book, but it is not this book that I am creating, it is you.”

“Me?”

A question mark popped up on Sagat’s head, “Am I …… not real? A cactus created by you?”

“…… You have an active mind and were indeed born to do this job.”

Pava snorted, “I mean, creation comes in many forms. Recording legends is one, recreating history is another, constructing realities that don’t exist is also one.”

“And what I’m doing right now is creating the deeds of the writer Sagat. The Templars you created are the ice floes above the surface of the water, the setting behind my creation, the support of the deeds and even the experiences of the writer Sagat will be the massive island below the surface of the water.”

“Know what I mean?”

A light bulb went off in Saga’s head, “You mean you’re building out the connection between me and the Templars?”

“Yes. It’s a whole new approach to creation.”

Pava walked around excitedly, waving the decorated saber at his waist, “I will write essays and miscellaneous articles under the names of Pava, Matthews, Jodi, and my old friend Fabiani, respectively, to bolster the existence of the Templars.”

“Fabiani has agreed to this before. Originally, I thought of writing legends and biographies about the Rose Kingdom under his name, but now it’s just right to use it for that purpose, and he’ll never let it slip.”

“When these testimonies and diaries are given from different people, from each other, they can support the truth of the whole Templar system!”

“This is my new book, turning fiction into reality! This is how I spread my faith for the gods!”

A large exclamation mark popped up over Sagat’s head, “You are …… truly remarkable! Matthews-sensei, please do let me follow you!”

“That’s for sure, it was your idea that inspired my entire plan.”

The cactus assistant suddenly said, “So you’re the great writer Pava?”

“No, I’m Matthews, and I’m not related to him.”

Pawar insisted, “I am just an admirer of Mr Pawar, who is dead.”

「……」

Shagga also stopped pursuing the matter and discussed the professional aspects with Pava.

Lu Yao watched and scratched his head.

In terms of facts, Pava had indeed brought himself 500,000 levels of Flame of Faith, setting the highest record for a single person creating faith in the Yao Clan.

It would be hard for the Apostles to do it with him spreading rumours like that.

But …… Shagga has generated too much income this time.

Lu Yao decided to help him out for the sake of 500,000 faith.

The next one will not be an exception.

He informed the group of Apostles to keep the matter of the [Templars] a secret and not to reveal Shagga and Paiva.

Lu Yao had only finished his work when a reminder popped up on the game interface.

[Shi Bao wrote On Numbers and Words.]

[Shi Bao invented a new profession: Mathematician.]

[The knowledge of everyone in Salt City has improved slightly.]

[The Yao Clan has learnt a more precise way of perceiving things, improved their calculation skills, and engineering, medicine, mining, and history have all improved somewhat.]

[The Yao Clan has unified the calendars of all regions, and detailed records of time are officially opened.]]

–You have named it the ____ Calendar.

Lu Yao was delighted and typed a few words on the keyboard.

At the top of the centre of the screen image, there was a small line of words.

[Fire and Vapour Era Yao Calendar, Year 1, Month 1]
