The passage of time in the simulator varied from epoch to epoch.
For example, in the last epoch, ten years passed in the Yao world, which was equivalent to one day in the current world.
However, after the update in the second epoch, the Yao Clan world has to go through twelve years before it equals one day in the real world.
The Yao Clan’s unification of the calendar also made the passage of time in the Pixel World clearer and more intuitive.
Lu Yao found Shi Bao.
Nowadays, Shi Bao was already a senile old man, he had returned to Yancheng from White Castle and had taken up a part-time job as a maths lecturer in the College of Engineering, and he was still the Prophet who was most integrated into the masses.
The old prophet, leaning on his crutches, is lecturing in a modest house, “Numbers and words are inextricably linked, going back as far as the Brief History of the Tribes recorded by the astrologer Shah Khan.”
“Numbers were also formalised into a discipline in the Code of Tribal Transactions, written by Shangli. Each number was given a special meaning and could represent anything familiar that we see.”
“But the development of mathematics has always been tortuous, and the Yao tribe has been making breakthroughs in all fields, but instead, this ancient basic knowledge has stagnated for a long time, without forming a rich system.”
“Who can answer me why this is so?”
Shi Bao looked to the stage.
One student raised his hand.
“Because maths is too difficult!”
This caused many laughs.
“Also true.”
Shippo asked, “Any more?”
Another student said, “I think it’s something to do with the Divine Book.”
“Oh? Tell me in detail.”
Shi Bao signalled the other to continue.
This student stood up, “The Yao God sent down a gift, the divine book that recorded numerous divine texts, so that many Yao scholars had tried to decipher it once, but without any results.”
“I looked up the relevant records in the library and it says that the scholars were mainly divided into two schools, one specialising in the divine texts on the book and the other focusing on deciphering the divine symbols in the book.”
“Each of those divine texts and divine symbols is very marvellous and profound, whereas the divine books require them to be linked together in order to be truly readable. Three eras have passed, and scholars are still clueless.”
“The characters and words on the Divine Books also brought counting and writing to a long halt, as going further might be the Divine Realm, which was not an area that could be touched by human beings. With fear and worry, most scholars stop.”
Shippo asked him, “Did you come up with all this on your own?”
“Yes.”
The student said, “I also go to museums often, hoping to get inspiration from the sacred books. But …… it’s too hard.”
Lu Yao remembered this 16-year-old student.
His name was Wine Sword, and he had a sharp name.
The one who had just said that maths was too hard was a female pixelated villain called Shang Clueless. She was sitting in the last row, her head was a mess and she seemed to have some trouble keeping up with her thoughts.
Shi Bao leaned on his crutches and said, “What exactly is recorded in the divine book, I don’t know. But the birth and progress of mathematics actually came from disasters.”
“Everyone should know that the appearance of the Calamity Beasts caused the Yao Race to go through a very difficult time, with many people dying due to floods, droughts with the collapse of mountains and rocks.”
“At this time, we only know how many people were killed by the disasters, unable to make those who hadn’t experienced it realise the horror of natural disasters.”
“The combination of numbers and words, however, does the trick.”
“The flood killed two people, that’s how it used to be described and recorded.”
He paused, “The flood resulted in the deaths of 2 people, one of whom was a 6 year old child and the other was the child’s 26 year old mother.”
“What’s the difference between those two statements?”
Shippo looked around at the students, “The latter is more accurate because the combination of numbers and words conveys more accurately what cannot be seen with one’s own eyes. This is a simple application of mathematics.”
“A higher level of usage is to design and build houses, create metal farming tools, including your daily food purchases. For example, on two neighbouring streets, east and west, what would you choose between a meat pie of 2 sea shells for 1 on the east street and 4 sea shells for 3 on the west street?”
“West Street, of course!”
In the united voice, there was a discordant statement, “I’ll choose East Street!”
The speaker was Business Clueless, who had previously found the maths difficult.
She stated, “1 person can only eat 1 meatloaf, and 1 normal meatloaf is enough for an adult, so if you go to West Street to buy it, you’ll have to pay 3 seabucks more, and there’s a lot of pressure to keep it in stock.”
“Meatcakes can’t be kept for too long, they have to be eaten within 2 days, so 4 sea shells for 3 this is a thin profit for merchants to earn quantity, and shouldn’t be considered for purchasers.”
Lu Yao could only say that it was worthy of being a child of a merchant family. Discussing pure maths might be painful for Shang Clueless, but when it came to specific business, her reactions were sharp.
“You guys are all right.”
A smiley symbol appeared on Shi Bao’s head, “The choice of West Street is from a pure price level, while the conclusion of East Street is composed of more complex conditions and analyses, and they all have mathematics behind them. You will come to different conclusions because of the different numbers and words used as reference.”
“This is the application of mathematics.”
“You are the future of the Yao Clan, you will be planning your future, and I’m sure you will also be calculating the width and depth of the ocean, and one day, you will even be able to measure the sun in the sky ……”
“I hope you won’t forget maths, it won’t lie to you, as long as you learn it, it will give you results.”
Seeing this scene, Lu Yao remembered the Higher Mathematics in the Yancheng Museum.
Maybe in the future of the Pixel World, there would really be a mathematician who would decipher it, so that the tool library of the Higher Boundary Dimension world would really unfold in the Lower Boundary Dimension.
……
Lu Yao clicked the mouse and cut the screen back to Sand City.
Shi Bao had developed the subject of Mathematics, which was a slight interruption.
The current focus of Lu Yao’s attention was the circulation of talents between the Yao Clan and the two divine kingdoms of the Ring Realm Cluster.
He looked down over Sand City and quickly found the foreign God Kingdom workers in Sand City.
Lushan and Bamboo Tiger, a group from the Bamboo Lush Kingdom, were both planting cacti & building desert huts in the north of the city. They had grown to have a tacit understanding with the backbox cacti, but they just didn’t speak the same language, so they still had to rely on [Blasted Honey Wine] for dialogue.
Compared to these two, the other backpackers were a bit bitter.
“It’s too hot, it’s like a furnace here.”
“Brother Lushan, no one sees us anyway, let’s just take a little break, there are cacti and they work, they aren’t afraid of being tired at all.”
“That’s right, there’s so little water here, it’s hot and dry, I’m dying of thirst.”
Faced with the complaints and pleas of his fellow clansmen, Lushan said, “All of you work honestly, remember not to be lazy.”
Bamboo Tiger, on the other hand, was even more unforgiving: “If you can’t take the pain, get out of here before it’s too late, and don’t lose the face of the Bamboo and Reed Kingdom. This place, Sand City, is not for you to come over and enjoy yourselves, you’d better get it right!”
The people of Lushu immediately did not dare to complain any more, and all of them bored themselves with their work.
Reed Mountain said soothingly, “Fellow countrymen, we are here to learn. The knowledge of cultivation, construction, smelting, and exploration here is knowledge that the Bamboo Reed Kingdom desperately needs.”
“We will face very difficult trials, but I hope that everyone will remember to learn for the rise of the Juklu Kingdom!”
“All of the knowledge, skills, and experience here could have a huge impact on the Divine Kingdom we live in, and we need to grab all the time we can to learn.”
“We didn’t come to Sand City so that we could eventually stay, but so that we could go back and build our own Sand City in the Zhulu Kingdom!”
These words soothed the annoyance of the Lu Folk, and one by one, they became serious.
Lu Yao moved his viewpoint again to look at the only seedling of the Spectre Ghost Realm, the Spectre Physician Funeral Horn.
At this time, Funeral Horn was receiving treatment.
Three Yao Physicians in Ghost Armour surrounded him and placed him on a hospital bed.
The Shacheng physicians were all ghost scholars.
One of the physicians asked him, “How do you feel now?”
“I feel …… much more comfortable, I don’t feel weak or sleepy anymore, just a little itchy all over after being injected with medicine, and my wounds hurt a little.”
The weakness on Funeral Horn’s head had disappeared, and his life value had also recovered to 172 from the previous 161.
“It seems that the [Hybrid Agent] does work.”
“However, we are using a hybrid agent that is bred with poisonous spotted mosquitoes, there may also be side effects, we still have to observe it for a long time.”
“The Funeral Race is very close to the Ghouls, perhaps making the [Blood Mixing Agent] based on Ghoul blood will be a little more effective.”
“Finding a special blood source would be the only way to ask Lord Mayor for help.”
“We can also try other medicines and do a control course.”
Funeral Horn saw a burst of discussion from the Yao physicians, and a mess of confusion lit up his brain, “…… I thought I was coming here to treat ghosts, but I didn’t expect to turn out to be the one being treated by you guys.”
An apparition scholar said, “Healers can’t heal themselves, we all have our own specialities. When we were still in the old empire, we often dealt with all sorts of difficult cases, the Glass Clan used to fight for many years, and weak medicine can simply not withstand the losses of war.”
“Rest well and keep an eye on your health, call us if you feel any discomfort.”
The physicians left after saying that.
Funeral Horn lay alone on the bed, an oval-shaped frame of thoughts floating above his head.
“The Yao Clan can actually cure this kind of terminal illness, Lord Buluo was right. In the future, there won’t be any deaths because of the Funeral Clan that cures ghosts, right ……”
“But why is that so? The ghosts here are completely different from the ghosts in the Spectre Realm.”
“What’s a magic potion? Completely confused.”
“Are there that many kinds of medicine in this world?”
“Am I a doctor or a patient?”
“Is my job to be healed or studied?”
One question after another popped out of the Funeral Pixel Villain’s head.
……
Lu Yao yawned and glanced at the time.
Twelve thirty-two in the middle of the night.
It was time to rest.
Just as he was about to get up and wash up, a reminder popped up in the simulator.
[Pasha has located the Dragonhost Passage: Chau Island.]
[Locating completed.]
Lu Yao’s spirit perked up and immediately cut into the sector dimension space screen.
On the coordinate system displayed on the dashboard, a yellow point of light stood out quite prominently, close to the green dot of the Yao Clan’s Vortex World.
The positioning given by Pasha showed that the channel world called Chau Island was just ahead.
However, in the realm of boundary dimension space, there was only a black void.
